n00b here (not new to hacking or aim or whaterver but to Schwippy's)
i think i found sumting that may be able to remove the 220 maxbuddy limit. I was reading a few older posts and it seemed like a some of you would like a way to hack it. Looks like i found it: This is a registy key i found while poking around a while back: >-------------------------------------------------------------------< [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\America Online\AOL Instant Messenger \CurrentVersion\Buddy] "MaxBuddies"=dword:000000dc >-------------------------------------------------------------------< i relize that the "dc" is hex for 220 and i think moding this key to the one shown below will chang the maxbuddy limit. I have 1 problem: aim keeps reseting the key! this might be because i had aim running or i didnt of b/c i didnt shut down after moding it ... heres the moded key for 400 buddys (the 190 is the hex if your bad at conversions) >-------------------------------------------------------------------< [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\America Online\AOL Instant Messenger \CurrentVersion\Buddy] "MaxBuddies"=dword:00000190 >-------------------------------------------------------------------< (the attached file is the hacked *.reg key if you dont feel comfortable moding your registery) ~IIe |

sory IIe... but the registry wont quite do the trick (anymore)
A few versions back, this is exactly what was done to make the max buddy limit watever you wanted. But since the new versions of aim (by the way, did you know that aim 4.8 was changed to include this?), they made it so that the max buddy limit is SERVER based now. Te registry key just happens to still be there to keep people from putting too many buddies on theyre client. Even when sum1 DOES put more buddies than allowed, when that list gets sent to the server (lists are stored on the server), the server simply clips off the extra buddies and saves it like that.
